(August 21, 2010)

Sidley Crest

The blues suffered late heartache at Three Bridges this afternoon, conceeding a last minute own goal after squandering a 3-1 lead with only ten minutes remaining.

The blues game plan to frustrate there opponents and catch them on the break was working to a tee with the returning Chris Agutter at the fore of all the good things the Blues were doing.

It was Agutter and Kevin Rose who put the Blues two up before Bridges pulled one back early in the second half, Alan Mcminigal struck a superb third for the blues who were back in control of the game, then disaster struck twice in 5 minutes first Sean Kelly was forced off with a knee injury and then skipper Danny Spice was sent off for violent conduct.

Those incidents changed the course of the game and Bridges smelt blood and piled on the pressure and not only pulled themselves level sneaked the winner in injury time off the boot off Blues own Dan Cruickshank.

There was better news for the reserves who won with a last minute goal from Liam Miles in there latest friendly against East Sussex Division one side AFC Sidley.

Paul Barnes opened the scoring for the Blues with a header from a Sam Hesmer corner, Hesmer also rattled the woodwork in a first half dominated by the Blues.

The second half was a more scrappy affair with AFC Sidley coming more into the game and they pulled level following sloppy play on the edge of the blues box.

The equalizer for AFC kicked Sidley into life and it was Miles slamming the ball home from another Hesmer assist.
