AFC Hastings Match Preview

(November 19, 2015)

This Saturday Sidley entertain AFC Hastings in the Hastings FA Junior Cup, with kick off at Hooe at 1.30pm.

Blues have faced off against AFC Hastings twice already this season, losing 3 - 1 in the Birchwood Group Challenge Cup earlier in the season - their only defeat of the season.

However Sidley fared better in the league encounter last month, cantering to a 2 - 0 win with Chris Copley and Chris Sanderson scoring the goals.

AFC Hastings shouldn't be underestimated though as they have the league's top scorer in their midst - Wesleigh Peoples with 12 league goals so far. AFC suffered a 4 - 1 defeat last week to The J.C Tackleway but they are capable of scoring plenty on their day as they showed with a 10 - 0 win over Thakenham Village in the Sussex FA Junior Cup, another competition where the sides will face each other in just 3 weeks time - with the return league fixture a week before that!

Blues battled back from a goal down to see off Wadhurst United 2 - 1 last week in appalling conditions as they made it 7 league wins from 7 games with goals from James Bailey and Lee Roberts. If they can bring their league form into the cup competitions they will be confident of progressing to the Quarter Finals.

At present, Old Hastonians are the only team confirmed in the Quarter Finals of the Hastings FA Junior Cup but 6 ties are being played this Saturday and so we should have a better idea after this weekend of sides left in the Quarter Finals.

Stuart Smith is the referee and if the recent weather is any indication, we suggest wesring boots and wrapping up warm!
