Southwater 1 - 4 Sidley United - Sussex Cup - Sunday 20th October 2019

Sidley United Vets made it through to the next round of the Sussex Cup with an excellent 4 - 1 win at Southwater.

Despite only having 11 and a half men available against a relatively young Southwater side, the end result was well deserved.

Steve Fletcher gave the Blues the lead although Southwater equalised before half time. In the second half though Dan Barelli restored Sidley's lead.

Sidley had to weather the storm from the hosts before Fletcher broke free from a Haddock cross to get the third before completing his hat-trick with a Ronaldinho style toe poke into the top corner to secure the result.

Special mention goes to the midfield of Chris Scott, Craig Willard and Ben Eldridge whilst the back four were solid with Wayne Partridge's experience and Peter Heritage giving a masterclass in ball retention (even after the game had ended). Manager Steve Tyrherleigh managed a whole 10 minutes off the bench before the hamstring went and he had to come off again.

No game next week but the Blues are at home against Peche Hill on November 3rd at Bexhill College with a 11.00am kick off.
