AFC Hastings withdraw from Division

(January 22, 2016)

We have today had confirmation that AFC Hastings have withdrawn from the Division with immediate effect, citing a "lack of player commitment."

They become the third team this season to withdraw from the Division and in-keeping with the departures of Hollington United II and Sovereign Saints their record will be expunged.

This means that Sidley lose 6 points from our record this season following our 2 - 0 and 3 - 1 wins against AFC earlier in the season. The gap at the top of the table has reduced to 9 points as a consequence with closest rivals Eastbourne Rangers and Old Hastonians losing 3 points, having only faced AFC once this season.

With a plan already in place to face remaining teams 3 times this season, it remains to be seen what effect this latest withdrawal will have on the Division. Should the plan to play sides 3 times go ahead, Sidley will have 10 more league games this season to navigate.

In the meantime a reminder that tomorrow's Sussex FA Junior Cup tie has been switched to Sidley's home ground at Hooe Rec. Kick off is 1.30pm, subject to passing a pitch inspection in the morning.
