Saturday round up

(April 02, 2016)

With Sidley United getting a Saturday off action ahead of the Sussex FA Junior cup final on Wednesday, three big games were played on Saturday which could well have a big impact on the final league table.

Old Hastonians scored a stoppage time winner as they came from 2 - 0 down to beat leaders Eastbourne Rangers 3 - 2. Rangers led at half time and seemed set to all but secure promotion to the Premier Division but three goals in the final 15 minutes turned the match and kept Hastonians in the title mix.

That result means Sidley remain a point behind Rangers but with 2 games in hand. Hastonians are a further 9 points adrift but with a game in hand on Blues. Sidley's next two league matches are home fixtures against both Old Hastonians and Eastbourne Rangers in games that will surely shape the destiny of the title.

Blues' opponents in the cup final on Wednesday, Wadurst United played out a 3 - 3 draw with The J.C. Tackleway.

Crowhurst picked up their second league win of the season as they saw off basement side Ticehurst 3 - 1. As a result of those matches, Crowhurst climb above Wadhurst in the table and still they have 10 league matches left to play.

Blues' attention turns now to Wednesday before two vital league fixtures following that. But first the quest to pick up a first piece of silverware this season continues at Culver Road, Lancing on Wednesday in a 7.15pm kick off.

The final league fixtures of the season have now been revealed. Sidley will host Crowhurst in our final game on May 7th. See the Fixtures page for information on all remaining Sidley matches.
