Old Hastonians Match Preview

(April 07, 2016)

Fresh from the highs of winning the Sussex FA Junior Cup last night after a pulsating final, Sidley turn their attention back to their quest to add the Division One title to their haul as they entertain third placed Old Hastonians on Saturday.

Blues go into the game keeping that a victory will put them on the brink of promotion to the Premier Division as well as all but ending Old Hastonians title chances. Conversely a Hastonians win puts them right back in the mix following their last gasp win over Eastbourne Rangers last week and still with games in hand on both teams above them.

That dramatic win last week means Hastonians come into the match 9 points behind the Blues but with a game in hand. Sidley will hope to keep pace with Rangers ahead of the showdown with them the following Saturday.

The Blues will be hoping fatigue doesn't play a role after their extra time heroics and with a little over 48 hours recovery time. Simon Corke and John Carey both picked up knocks yesterday and so rotation may be key for the Blues on Saturday.

The recent match between the two went Sidley's way as they came away from Bexhill Road with an important 3 - 1 win. No doubt Sidley will be hoping for a repeat performance whilst Hastonians will be looking to make amends. The sides meet again at Hooe on Monday 2nd May.

The match at Hooe Rec kicks off at 3.00pm and Blues will hope they will be as well supported as they were last night.
