ESFL Premier Division Preview
(August 18, 2018)
Sidley United kick off the ESFL Premier Division campaign on September 1st with an away trip to newly promoted Northiam 75. Here we take a brief look at all of our opponents this season in the ESFL Premier Division:
Battle Baptists: Runners up for the last 2 seasons. Must be considered favourites for the title. New manager but same squad as last year. Anyone who finishes above them must fancy their chances of being champions.
Bexhill A.A.C: Newly promoted side with some good ball playing footballers amongst their ranks. Will hope to show they belong in the Premier Division.
Bexhill Town: Inconsistent last term but hoping for a more stable campaign this time around. Squad depth will determine how well they fare.
Hawkhurst United: Squad commitment seems better than they feared. Some tricky players amongst their ranks means they should not be underestimated.
Northiam 75: Newly promoted side. Scored bags of goals last season in Division One - can they handle the step up to challenge the top sides in the Premier Division?
Robertsbridge United: Guy Ballard is their danger man and can often create something out of nothing. An honest squad but more likely to be contesting mid table.
Rye Town: Looked like title challengers for a lot of last season before fading badly to finish fourth. Strong squad on paper and in theory should be challengers for the title along with Battle Baptists.
Sedlescombe Rangers: Another side who will be hoping to be in and amongst the top teams in the Division. Will need to improve their consistency to be able to achieve that aim.
St Leonards Social: Former champions who have struggled in the last few seasons. Will be hoping for a better campaign than last season but may find it difficult to trouble the top sides.
