NEWS: Scrace returns to playing role
(September 13, 2022)
Sidley United would like to confirm that Arron Scrace has stepped down from managerial duties in order to focus on a return to playing.
After tearing a tendon whilst playing in January 2020 which ruled him out of playing and required an operation, Arron took over running the side who served as Sidley United II's playing in Division One of the East Sussex Football League. Now that Arron is closing on being fully fit, he wishes to focus on serving as a player as opposed to managing.
Scrace said "I've been very fortunate to have been given the chance to manage the club that I have been a part of for the last 8 years. It was always the plan from the beginning that when the timing was right I would step aside and with Mark and Darrell coming in over the summer, now seemed like the time to give control over to people who I know have the same levels of commitment and hunger that I had.
I'd like to thank the committee for the opportunity to manage the side as well as Ross Garnett of Dynamic Scaffolding, Kristian Wilson from Vector Recruitment and Jimmy Stanger from Sidley Working Men's Club for their generous sponsorship.
Finally to the lads who chose to play for me over the last couple of years, it has been a pleasure. Now it's time for me to get to work contributing to the success of the club as a player."
The football club would like to place on record our sincere thanks for everything that Arron has done for the club over many years and we look forward to seeing him back on the pitch in a Sidley shirt in the very near future. Mark Linch and Darrell Shaw will serve as joint first team managers, supported by coach Ash Carey.
