Crows crush Blues
(November 19, 2022)
Crowhurst 10 - 1 Sidley United - ESFL Premier Division
It was an afternoon to forget for Sidley United as they were thumped by a rampant Crowhurst side.
The first half an hour couldn't have gone much better though for the Blues as a 2nd minute Crowhurst penalty was missed by Wes Tate before Sidley actually took the lead when Andy Atkin controlled a ball forward and finished well on 17 minutes.
The lead though wasn't to last and Crowhurst levelled when a corner was turned home by Anton Neil and the hosts would take advantage of Sidley losing captain Ash Carey to a sin-bin to take a half time lead as Sean Lennard dinked the ball over Ritchie Gray.
At half time though, despite Crowhurst playing the better football, Sidley were well in the game but the second half proved to be a horror show as Crowhurst struck 8 more times. Reece Johnson netted four, Harry Loates grabbed two and strikes from Wes Tate and Jan Bailey rounded off a thoroughly disappointing afternoon for the Blues.
Whilst defeats are part and parcel of football, the Blues will need to examine their character this week as they look to bounce back against Westfield II net next week.
Sidley Team: Gray, Mote, Day, Carey, Hempe, Ransom, Bradbury, Wade, Witham, Ball, Atkin. Subs: Britt, Croucher, Haffenden.
