Late Ball goal settles poor Social game

St Leonards Social 0 - 1 Sidley United - ESFL Premier Division

An 88th minute from Archie Ball settled a poor match against relegation threatened St Leonards Social.

The Blues came into the game off the back of 2 defeats whilst Social have had a run of poor results and that was reflected in a game that lacked quality with little created by either side. 

In the second half, Social came closest when Liam Miles mis-hit a cross to the back post and it clipped the crossbar. Meanwhile Sidley created little in a game that almost seemed destined to end goalless.

However in the 88th minute a long ball from goalkeeper Ritchie Gray sprang Archie Ball free and he finished first time into the far corner to clinch the points for the Blues.

Sidley may still be able to finish 7th in the table if they are able to claim wins against Hawkhurst United and Crowhurst in their final two matches; but they will need to improve from today's showing.
