(September 20, 2025)
The J.C Tackleway 2 - 1 Sidley United - ESFL Premier Division
Sidley United tasted their first defeat of the 2025/26 season as they were beaten by The J.C Tackleway.
The hosts started strongly and took the lead on 12 minutes through Bobby Bowles. However Sidley began to wrestle back control and spurned two glorous opportunities to go in level at the break.
The Blues felt that Nathan Crabb was denied a goalscoring opportunity when he was pulled back whilst in on goal but the referee elected not to show a card of any colour.
The game started to drift although Sidley had a goal ruled out for offside. The hosts took advantage of that let off to add a second goal on 78 minutes when Grant Cornelius scrambled the ball home.
With time running out though Sidley got themselves back into the game on 83 minutes as Simon Tomlinson rifled home from 8 yards off the underside of the bar. Although the Blues pushed for an equaliser, Tackleway held on to claim the points and inflict a first defeat of the season on the Blues.
Sidley Team: Gray, L.Mote, Ammoun, Hempe, Tomlinson, May, Smith, Van Wyk, Brett, Ball, Crabb. Subs: T.Atkin, Witham.
