Blues at the double with first home points
(October 02, 2010)
The blues recorded there first home points of the season and there first double as they overcome bottom side Eastbourne United Association 3-1 this afternoon.
The hosts welcomed back Kevin Rose who partnered Dan Spice at the heart of the back four and game a first start to Adam Day following his retrurn to the club.
Rose was in the thick of the action firstly converting a penalty after 15 mins given harshly for a handball against a visiting defender then leaving the field in pain to be replaced by Dan Cruickshank in what looked like a recurrance of an ankle injury which he has been carrying for the past few weeks.
Harry Killick unfortunatley gifted the visitors a lifeline early in the second half when in the driving rain he slipped as the ball squirmed through his grasp into the back of the net.
The blues reaction to this set back was good and it was subs Kevin Bird and Martin Denny who combined with five minutes remaining with the latter nodding home to the delight of the home crowd. Terry Paine made certain of the points for the blues when he headed home a Taylor cross.
