Big decision denies Blues home victory
(October 23, 2010)
Sidley United saw two points slip from their hands today at Gullivers as they drew 1 - 1 with Redhill in the league.
Sidley took the lead five minutes before half time as Terry Payne deflected in a Kevin Bird shot from the edge of the area.
The big decision came five minutes into the second half. A Redhill backpass was short and allowed Terry Payne to nip in. As he rounded the goalkeeper, he was brought down but the referee chose only to show a yellow card to the 'keeper and award a free kick despite everyone - including the Redhill bench - expecting the award of the penalty and the red card.
This galvanised Redhill and they equalised on 61 minutes after a move down the right wing saw a cross into the box for Lee Radford to slot his shot past Harry Killick.
Sidley did push forward looking for the winner, and had the better chances but were unable to find the winning goal. Another good, confident performance but the Blues are disappointed that we didn't collect all three points today.
