Reserves climb to second after another victory
(October 31, 2010)
The reserves carried on their impressive league form with their 6th consectutive victory when they visited Old Barn Way to take on Southwick Reserves yesterday afternoon.
Despite having to make 6 changes to the starting line up that had triumphed the week before, the Blues put in what was was arguably their best performance of the season against a Wickers side that defied their lowly position in the current standings, and will surely climb the table on this showing.
Darrol Parris & Danya Tashpulatov in goal made there debuts while there were starts for Stuart Collier, Shea Kelly, Ash Carey & Matt Darby made his first first appearance since recovering from a broken leg when on first team duty against Little Common last December and he played the whole of the second half after coming on for Sean Ray.
Hastings United skipper Ray who had signed earlier on in the week on a dual registration basis had been out for 6 weeks with ankle ligament trouble and with United having no game or a Reserve side this season the young Blues reserve side took advantage of his cameo appearance and he looked calmed and assured on his return from injury.
The only goal of the game came after 62 minutes when a corner was only half cleared and joint manager Lawrence Brand fired the ball low and hard past the Wickers keeper to give the Blues a deserved lead for the excellent passing football they had played throughout the game.
The fixtures are coming thick and fast with Seaford Town Reserves next up when they visit the Gullivers on Tuesday night. Kick off is 7.45pm.
