Spice suffers serious injury in Sidley defeat
(November 06, 2010)
Sidley United captain Dan Spice was taken to hospital in an ambulance this afternoon after sustaining a serious looking back injury.
The powerful defender was left on the floor motionless and the game was halted by the referee whilst the ambulance was called. Some 20 minutes later, Dan went off in the back of the ambulance to the hospital where he will be looked at tonight.
Despite some calls for the game to be abandoned, the match continued and WIck broke through almost as the game ticked into the 90th minute and the centre forward was pulled down by Harry Killick, who received the red card. Wick despatched the penalty and down to nine men, Sidley had little of the ball in the remaining seconds to get anything out of the game.
But the game was secondary today. Of course everyone at Sidley United wishes Dan the best and hopes the injury is not too severe. As soon as I have further news on that, I will update you on his progress.
