Blues beat Hassocks in lively encounter
(November 20, 2010)
Sidley United picked up an excellent 3 - 1 win over a Hassocks side who had previously only been beaten once in the league at Gullivers on Saturday.
The Blues took the lead after 11 minutes, when Nick Whiteman capitalised on the goalkeeper missing a cross from a free kick to slot in. Jason Taylor scored the second with a wonder goal, volleying first time from a long Andy Hales cross in off the bar for two.
Sidley had Whiteman sent off just before half time for kicking out at a player but Hassocks also lost a player at the same incident for kicking the ball at Jason Taylor.
In the second half, Sidley went three up when great play down the wing led to Taylor turning his defender and slotting home. Hassocks pressed and got a consolation through Kieran O'Callaghan but Sidley battled through to pick up another excellent three points.
Sidley Team: Killick, Chandler, Morris, Rea, Whiteman, Dadswell, Day, Taylor, Hales (Craig), Payne, Miles (Denny).
