Quality performance, poor result for front side
(December 11, 2010)
Sidley United can count themselves very unfortunate today, as they lost 4 - 2 away at unbeaten Crawley Down.
Sidley dominated the first half, and could have had more than the one goal lead they took through Terry Payne's excellent finish. A home penalty restored parity before Matt Dadswell was sent off for kicking out at a Crawley player after a clash of heads.
Mark Chandler and Terry Payne both picked up bad injuries which forced them off, and in the second half, Crawley Down were gifted the second and third goals as Dan Cruickshank sliced into his own net and debutant goalkeeper Daniya Tashpulatov missed a clearance to allow Tom Lyons to tap into an empty net.
Liam Miles pulled a goal back with 3 minutes to go with a deft header from a Jason Taylor cross but Crawley Down wrapped up the game in the 90th minute when Lyons finished off a quick break.
A great performance from the Blues, but no reward. Up next is Peacehaven & Telscombe on Tuesday at home in the league.
