Sidley slump to Ringmer defeat
(January 03, 2011)
Sidley United looked as if they hadn't played for two weeks today, producing a rusty display as they slipped to a 3 - 1 defeat away at Ringmer.
In a tight first the Blues fell behind as a swift counter attack saw the home forward slot under the on-rushing Gavin Bourne. The second goal arrived just 20 seconds into the second half, as Sidley were caught cold from the restart.
The Blues won a penalty with 8 minutes to go which was dispatched by Andy Hales. The offending Ringmer player, despite being the last man, only saw yellow instead of red. Despite good Sidley pressure, Ringmer killed the game off in the 90th minute as a low cross eluded Gavin Bourne and the home forward tapped into the empty net.
Sidley Team: Bourne, Morris (Cruikshank), Short (Denny), Rea, Spice, Kelly, Hales, Bird, Taylor, Payne, Miles (McDonald).
