Second half showing sees Sidley out
(January 25, 2011)
Sidley United conceded three second half goals as they bowed out of the SCFA RUR Cup tonight, losing a lively game at Crawley Down 4 - 2.
The Blues started the brighter and had a two goal lead after half an hour, courtesy of a terrific Terry Payne strike and Jason Taylor tapping in Sean Kelly's cross. However, Crawley Down got a goal back just before half time when Tom Burton punished some poor marking from a free kick.
In the second half, Sidley missed numerous one on one chances to get the killer goal with Liam Miles, Kevin Bird and Jason Taylor all missing opportunities. Crawley Down again levelled when Burton again headed in from another free kick and very quickly Wes Millis and Nick Sullivan put Crawley out of reach.
Sidley will be disappointed with the result as this was a game there for the taking, but another that slipped away.
Sidley Team: Bourne, Chandler (Cody), Rea, Jules, Spice, Kelly, McDonald (Dadswell), Bird, Payne, Taylor, Miles (Denny)
