Sidley draw at Lingfield
(January 29, 2011)
Sidley United twice failed to hold onto a lead as they drew 2 - 2 away at Lingfield.
The Blues started brightly and took the lead when good work by Kevin Bird gave Andy Hales the chance to side foot into the net. Lingfield restored parity though when Bird was dispossessed and Lingfield broke down the right and their striker slotted underneath Gavin Bourne.
Sidley soon restored the lead though, Terry Payne firing low past the goalkeeper to send Sidley in 2 - 1 up at half time. In the second half, Jason Taylor was felled in the box but no penalty was awarded and Taylor was booked for his protest. Lingfield started to come forward with more sustained pressure and equalised when an attempted clearance fell to the Lingfield forward who turned and swept it in with 10 minutes to go.
Sidley will feel this was another 2 points dropped as again they were unable to finish off the game. However, another away point in the league sees the Blues move further clear of the bottom three.
Sidley Team: Bourne, Chandler, Rea, Jules, Spice, Kelly, McDonald, Bird, Hales, Payne, Taylor.
