Sidley come from behind to beat Hailsham
(March 01, 2011)
Sidley United recovered from going a goal down to win 2 - 1 at home to Hailsham Town tonight.
The Blues fell behind on 5 minutes when a deflected shot landed at the feet of Saunders, who slid home to put the Stringers in front. Sidley responded soon after when a corner was punched up in the air by the goalkeeper only to find Dan Spice who nudged the ball home with his back.
Both sides looked to play the ball on a difficult pitch, and both had good chances to go in front but it was Sidley who grabbed the decisive goal when Jason Taylor slid the ball across the six yard box and Sean Kelly slid the ball home to put Sidley in front.
Hailsham came forward searching the equaliser and came within a whisker of finding it. But Sidley, who defended resolutely, held on to claim all three points.
Sidley Team: Bourne, Chandler, Cody, Spice, Cruikshank, Kelly, McDonald, Bird (Darby), Taylor (Russell), Barden (Miles), Payne.
