Sidley chalk up another win
(March 05, 2011)
Sidley United made it three league wins in a row today by beating 10 man Wick 2 - 1.
The Blues took the lead on 7 minutes when Kevin Barden was felled in the area and Terry Payne sent the goalkeeper the wrong way. The Blues looked to be cruising when Wick were reduced to ten men on the hour mark after their midfielder picked up two silly bookings.
However, Wick equalised right on the strike of half time when a scramble in the box fell to the feet of Rob Wimble, who poked home.
In the second half, Sidley kept coming and Terry Payne got the winner, turning his marker brilliantly and firing low into the corner. Wick pressed and there were chances at both ends in a frantic finale but Sidley held on for the win.
Sidley Team: Bourne, Chandler, Cody (Darby), Cruikshank, Spice, Kelly, McDonald (Dadswell), Bird, Taylor, Barden (Miles), Payne.
