Brave Sidley bow out to Brighton
(March 09, 2011)
Sidley United put in a brave display but came up against a very strong Brighton & Hove Albion Reserve team who won 3 - 0 at Gullivers tonight in the Sussex Senior Cup.
Sidley played well when given the opportunity by a team whose passing was of a high standard. But it was only 1 - 0 at half time, with Brighton's goal coming from Torbjorn Agdestein.
In the second half, Sidley tried to get the ball forward but Brighton got their second through a quality free kick from Agustin Battipiedi made it two and their third came from a long kick from the goalkeeper and was scrambled home, possibly last coming off a Sidley defender.
Overall a great effort from the Blues and certainly no embarrassment but the quality of the oppositon meant we were always going to be up against it.
Sidley Team: Bourne, Cody, Rea, Spice, Cruikshank, Kelly, McDonald (Dadswell), Darby (Hill), Bird, Payne, Barden (Miles).
