Sidley Reserves win cup thriller
(March 16, 2011)
Sidley United Reserves won a thrilling Challenge Cup game tonight 4 - 3 against Lancing to set up a fourth round tie away at Rustington on Saturday.
The Blues took a first half lead through Matt Darby (19) but were pegged back right on the strike of half time. In the second half, it looked as though Sidley were heading out after Lancing were awarded a highly contentious penalty which they converted and then added a third two minutes later as they took control.
But Sidley responded and sub Dan Hill pulled one back within a minute of coming onto the pitch (68) and Sidley levelled when Jack Aston fired home (77). As the tie was heading into extra time, substitute Nathan Tudor knocked in a quality free kick (90) to send the homesters through to Round Four.
A performance demonstrating the 'never say die' attitude of the club tonight and a great comeback to boost confidence for the remainder of the season.
