Double delight for brilliant Blues
(April 09, 2011)
Sidley United had an excellent Saturday in the sun at Gullivers as the front side beat high flying East Grinstead Town 1 - 0 and the Reserves crushed Saltdean United 6 - 0.
In the first team game, Sidley played some good stuff and were unlucky to go in at half time goalless, after hitting the post.
But the goal came eventually, Kevin Barden turning his man and stroking his shot past Danny Harwood in the Grinstead goal. Sidley in fact had further chances to add to the scoreline with Miles missing two good opportunities. Despite this, Sidley fully deserved the three points to finish the season in style.
In the reserves game, they moved to within one win of the Reserve East Title as they crushed a poor Saltdean. Asher Grindle gave the Blues a 1 - 0 half time lead before further goals from Stuart Collier, Dan Hill, Darrell Parris, Carl Morris and Matt Darby completed the rout.
Sidley First Team: Bourne, Chandler (Mitiladou), Rea, Jules, Spice, Brand, Agutter, Cody, Bird (Parris), Miles, Barden.
Sidley Reserves Team: Tashpulatov, Short, Craig, Morris, Cruikshank, Payne, Collier (A.Parris), Aston, Grindle (D.Parris), Hill (Tudor), Darby.
