Blues blown away in extra time
(August 23, 2011)
Sidley United suffered an extra time nightmare as Arundel knocked us out of the FA Cup winning this replay 5 - 1 aet.
The Blues started brilliantly when Paul Tuppeney's 2nd minute free kick found the back of the net. Sidley were comfortably on top first half but couldn't find that all important second goal.
They were made to pay for a string of misses 7 minutes into the second half when Arundel dangerman Scott Tipper was left all alone at the back post to head past Gavin Bourne. Sidley still created plenty of chances but couldn't find the winning goal and so the game went into extra time.
And that's where it all went horribly wrong for Sidley. 2 more goals from Tipper completed his hat-trick before Lewis Hamilton and Billy Rayner completed the scoreline. The scoreline completely flattered Arundel but no doubt questions will be asked about the way Sidley imploded in extra time.
Next up is Dorking Wanderers in the FA Vase on Saturday and no doubt the boys will be looking to produce a positive response to tonight's disappointment.
Sidley Team: Bourne, Cody, Tuppeney, C Morris, Spice (Rea), Munday, Agutter, Barden (Payne), Taylor, McDonald (Brand), S Morris
