Extra time joy for Blues
(August 27, 2011)
Sidley United found extra time a positive experience today as they came through the RUR cup encounter with Dorking Wanderers 2 - 1.
The Blues were lifeless for a lot of this game however and Dorking had chances to take the game before extra time was needed. But Sidley persevered and took the lead on 82 minutes when Jason Taylor fired into the top corner.
But that was not the end of the drama as on 88 minutes Steve Morris was robbed and Dorking broke down the right with the striker converting the cross. And so it was extra time again for Sidley for the second time this week.
But this time, the Blues came through. Right at the end of the first period of extra time, Morris fired an overhead kick into the bottom corner to put Sidley in front. As Dorking pushed forward, the Blues had further chances but in the end they were happy to take the 2 - 1 victory and go through to the next round to face Southwick.
Sidley Team: Bourne, Cody, Tuppeney (Chandler), C Morris, Spice, Brand, Agutter (Hole), Barden (Bird), Taylor, Payne, S Morris.
