Sidley claim another 3 points
(August 29, 2011)
Sidley United maintained their 100% league record this season with a 1 - 0 win away at Ringmer today.
An even first half ended goalless, with Ringmer perhaps shading the chances. However Sidley claim closest to scoring during the opening period when Chris Agutter hit the inside of the post from a tight angle.
In the second half Sidley came out strong and were well on top. Kevin Bird had already missed two decent chances before he struck in the 65th minute, low past the goalkeeper. Sidley could have added one or two more but failed to find the goal that would have sealed the match.
And once again as time was running out Sidley dropped deep as Ringmer pushed forward. The home team thought they had equalised deep into stoppage time only to see the linesman's flag rule it out for offside.
And with that, the full time whistle went to ensure another clean sheet and another 3 league points for the Blues.
Sidley Team: Bourne, Chandler, Rea, C Morris (Cruikshank), Spice, Brand, Munday, Agutter, Bird, Taylor, Payne (Hole).
