Pagham punish wasteful Blues
(September 17, 2011)
Sidley United suffered their first home league defeat of the season as Pagham won 3 - 0 at Gullivers to maintain their 100% start to the season.
Pagham took the lead after just 8 minutes when Ross Woolf's drive took a deflection and looped over Gavin Bourne. The first half was a fairly even affair but Sidley got on top second half and had several good chances to equalise, Lewis Hole's header from six yards being the pick of the chances.
And Pagham made the Blues pay when Bourne came to punch a cross and Woolf lifted the ball over him and in on 79 minutes and after Paddy Cody knocked over a Pagham forward, Dan Simmonds stepped up to slot home on 86 minutes.
A harsh scoreline for a Sidley performance which merited more but Blues must take their chances.
Sidley Team: Bourne, Cody, Chandler (Farrier), Tuppeney, Cruikshank, Munday, Agutter, Brand (Bird), Taylor, McDonald, Hole (Barden).
