Improved performance but Blues still lose
(September 27, 2011)
Sidley United put in a much better performance tonight against fourth in the table East Grinstead Town, but still lost this Sussex Senior Cup tie 3 - 2 at Gullivers.
Grinstead took the lead on 31 minutes, Michael Death stealing in at the near post to head past Josh Willis and after the break they doubled their lead when Hilder danced around Carl Morris and lashed a great strike into the top corner.
Blues responded and pulled one back through Jason Taylor's neat finish on 65 minutes and were on top for a short spell - Lewis Hole hitting the post just seconds after coming on.
But East Grinstead restored their two goal lead from the spot after Josh Willis was adjuged to have pulled down a striker and Death stepped up to score. Still Sidley came and on 84 minutes Steve Morris headed in a corner. Sidley could have nicked the equaliser right at the end but Morris' header this time went wide instead of into the net.
A better performance from the Blues but still chances being missed is costing us.
