Dismal Sidley out of another cup
(October 04, 2011)
Sidley United were outplayed by Second Division side Southwick as they exited the RUR Cup 2 - 0.
Blues were second best all over the pitch from the word go and Southwick took the lead with a header in the 19th minute. Just two minutes later they doubled the lead after no Sidley defender got a challenge in on the home striker.
Sidley's misery was compounded in the second half when Lewis Hole was shown a straight red card for an apparent elbow on an opponent.
All round the pitch tonight the Blues lacked the skill and guile to compete, with the Blues reduced to hitting long balls forward in the vain hope of success.
A performance that raises many areas of concern that need to be addressed and quickly if we are to address this slump we now find ourselves in.
Sidley Team: Willis, Chandler, Cody, Rea, C Morris, Brand, McDonald, Barden (McDonald), Taylor, Hole, S Morris (White)
