Improved Sidley in home defeat
(October 08, 2011)
Sidley United put in a much better display despite losing 2 - 0 at home to Horsham YMCA in a game that was not reflected by the scoreline.
Blues started brightly but fell behind on 7 minutes when Chris Rea fell over his own feet allowing Horsham in on goal down the right with George Hillier scoring the cutback. 5 minutes later Marc Munday took leave of his senses and stupidly punched an opponent off the ball. Rightfully he was shown the red card.
Despite this, Sidley were the better side and were unlucky to have 2 goals chalked off. The first was for offside against Jason Taylor after the impressive Lewis Hole's shot was parried and the second was against Hole for a high foot, despite him clearly getting the ball before the goalkeeper arrived for it.
Horsham got the second goal 5 minutes from time to clinch the game, a scramble in the box was turned home. But overall for Sidley a much better performance and positivies to take away from the game.
Sidley Team: Willis, Cody (Brand), Rea, S Morris, Cruikshank, Munday, Payne, White (Bird), Taylor (C Morris), McDonald, Hole
