Blues through in John O Hara cup
(October 11, 2011)
Sidley United progressed to the next round of the John O Hara cup tonight with a 2 - 0 victory over Division Two side Mile Oak.
After a slightly nervy 10 minutes, Sidley began to get on top and control the game and took the lead on 18 minutes when some nice football saw Steve Morris slide the ball low into the corner. Sidley doubled the lead on 41 minutes when the impressive Lewis Hole slid home following more good work from Jason Taylor.
Blues had chances in the second half to extend the lead; Kevin Barden hitting the post and Hole and Bird missing opportunities as well but in the end two was enough for the Blues.
A home win and a clean sheet, but sterner tests await.
Sidley Team: Willis, Cody, Tuppeney, Rea, Cruikshank, Brand, C McDonald, Taylor, White (Bird), Hole, S Morris (Barden).
