Defensive slips cost Blues again
(October 18, 2011)
Sidley United were left to rue defensive mistakes once again as they went down 4 - 1 at Lingfield.
The Blues actually took the lead on 14 minutes when a long kick upfield saw a Lingfield defender head over his own goalkeeper and into his own net. But that was where the positives ended for the Blues as poor defending on 24, 31 and 44 minutes saw Lingfield go in 3 - 1 up at the break.
Jason Taylor spurned a great chance to reduce the deficit in the second half but his connection wasn't enough to turn the ball in and Lingfield got the fourth on 84 minutes - more scrappy defending as a ball wasn't cleared properly and the ball cannoned in off the post.
Much to work on defensively for the Blues, who will struggle in matches as long as we keep defending this way.
Sidley Team: Willis, Cody, C Morris (Mote), Rea, Cruikshank, Munday, Brand (White), C McDonald (Day), Taylor, Bird, Payne.
