Sidley steal points at Uckfield
(October 22, 2011)
Sidley United claimed all three points with an injury time goal as they beat AFC Uckfield 2 -1.
After a shaky start, Jason Taylor fired Sidley ahead on 18 minutes from just inside the penalty area. AFC Uckfield seemed intent on playing long balls over the top but Sidley defended quite resolutely.
In the second half, Uckfield equalised when a ball across goal was turned in at the far post on 68 minutes. The home side had some good possession but failed to create many clear cut opportunities.
And just as it seemed the game was heading for a draw, Jason Taylor popped up unmarked to head the ball home and secure all 3 points for the travelling side.
A better performance today and another good away win, which should help improve the confidence in the team.
Sidley Team: Willis, Rea, Mote, S Morris (Cody), Cruikshank, Day, C McDonald (Brand), Bird, Taylor, Barden (S McDonald), Hole.
