Sidley Youth edge home win
(October 31, 2011)
Sidley United U18's survived a late penalty appeal to edge a home league win against Ringmer Youth 3 - 2.
Tom Robins put Blues in front on 6 minutes with a volleyed finish but Ringmer equalised on 15 minutes. Blues went in at half time in the lead though as Robins raced clear to slot past the home goalkeeper on 28 minutes.
A stunning strike brought Ringmer level on 51 minutes but again Blues rallied and Glenn Whittaker restored the lead from a tight angle on 71 minutes. Then the drama came in the 95 minute as a Blues defender appeared to haul down the Ringmer striker. The referee blew his whistle but after consulting the linesman, gave a drop ball instead of a penalty.
A slightly fortuitous win in the end for Sidley, but 3 points none the less.
