Awful Sidley slump to Chichester defeat
(November 06, 2011)
It was 'Bad Sidley' who turned up at Chichester on Saturday as they went down 2 - 0 to previously bottom of the table opposition.
A poor Chichester side went in front on 8 minutes when a speculative shot from outside the area seemed to bounce straight over Josh Willis. Despite Chichester failing to create many more opportunities, Sidley never got their game going and never tested the home goalkeeper.
Willis fingertipped a point blank header onto the crossbar but the second goal came from the spot after a rash challenge in the penalty area and the Chichester goalkeeper, for the second time this season, lashed the spot kick past Willis.
Too many times today the Blues made poor decisions and failed to read the game well enough to gather any momentum and threaten to penetrate the Chichester backline.
An extremely disappointing performance from the Blues today and in complete contrast to the 'Good Sidley' that played at Arundel last week. Consistency is required if we are to be more of a force in this division and we will certainly expect to see a response on Tuesday night at home to Shoreham.
Sidley Team: Willis, Cody (S Morris), Mote, Rea, Cruikshank, Brand, Masters, White (C Morris), Bird, Ham, S McDonald
