Early horror show kills Blues off
(November 26, 2011)
Sidley United went down 2 - 0 at East Grinstead Town after conceding after just 17 seconds.
The home side went in front right from the off, a ball played in from the left was teed up and smashed in by the forward. The second came on 20 minutes, another left wing cross headed home.
Josh Willis almost single handedly kept Sidley in the game, with 2 magnificent saves being just the pick of the bunch of his efforts to keep Grinstead out. The home side also hit the post and missed an open goal in the first half.
In the second half Sidley were better but failed to create many opportunities; Scott McDonald's near post effort being the best they managed all game. Grinstead had further opportunities but found Willis in terrific form to deny them any further goals.
The damage was done early today and seemed to kill us before we got going. A disappointing end to our good form of late and hopefully we can pick up and respond next week against St Francis Rangers.
Sidley Team: Willis, Rea (Chandler), Mote, S Morris, Cruikshank, Munday (C Morris, Day, Bird (White), Taylor, S McDonald, Ham.
