Big decision costs Blues away point
(February 23, 2012)
Sidley United were unlucky to come away from Hassocks empty handed as a big refereeing decision went against them in a 1 - 0 defeat.
In very wet and windy conditions Sidley played with the wind in the first half and had more possession of the ball but failed to create many clear cut opportunities. In fact the closest came from Hassocks who hit the post with a low shot on a rare foray forward.
In the second half it was Hassocks who had the wind's advantage but they also failed to make the best of it. Lewis Hole missed a good opportunity when he was 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper and Sidley suffered soon after.
A Hassocks midfielder jumped over the top of a static Bryce Masters and fell to the floor and the refeee awarded the home side the free kick. And directly from that the ball in took a nick off a Hassocks head and found the back of the net.
Sidley tried to rally but were always up against it after that and unfortunately they couldn't find the equaliser despite a vastly improved performance.
Sidley Team: Willis, Rea, Mote, Cruikshank, S Morris, Lusted (Taylor), McMinigal (Ham), Masters, Patten, S McDonald, Hole.
