Bridges take points from Blues
(March 03, 2012)
Three Bridges continued their march towards the top of the County League this afternoon with a 2 - 0 victory at Gullivers over the Blues.
Blues were on the wrong end of a refereeing decision which led to the first goal. A ball came off a Bridges player but they were awarded a throw in and from that they won a free kick. The ball in was knocked home at the back post at the second attempt.
Sidley played fairly well with Brett Patten particularly useful and it was somewhat unjust when Bridges doubled their lead on 35 minutes with a lovely direct free kick right into the top corner.
After the break both sides battled well but chances were at a premium. Bridges' Elliott Romian came the closest, hitting the post when well placed. Romain was somewhat lucky to remain on the field after a two footed lunge went unpunished by the referee who had a somewhat erratic game.
Sidley Team: Harris-Green, Rea, Mote, White (Chandler), Cruikshank, Masters, Patten, Taylor (Lusted), McMinigal, S McDonald, Gould
