Newhaven provide stiff test
(July 24, 2012)
The Blues made the short journey along the coast to Fort Road to take on division 2 new-boys Newhaven.
It was apparent this was going to be a real test for the Blues and within 20 mins were two down. Chris Gould halved the deficit before half time after good wing play from Jason Taylor.
The second half saw a change in gear from the visitors and they were level just after the hour mark from Jack Cooper's bullet header from a corner, he one of 5 subs made on the hour mark.
The game was settled thanks to 2 headers from Dom Clarke in what ended up being a comfortable victory. That said Newhaven should more than hold their own in County 2 this season and will no doubt surprise a number of sides with their young pacey side.
Next up is a trip to Combined Counties Premier Side Raynes Park Vale on Saturday. 3pm Kick off.
