Sidley blown away by classy Peacehaven
(August 09, 2012)
Sidley United suffered an awful night at the hands of impressive Peacehaven as the home side won by a crushing 9 - 1 scoreline.
The Blues fell behind on 21 minutes when Ryan Bradley flicked home. Further goals from Ashley Rees (26 & 39), Joe Dyer (38) and Tom O'Toole saw the game killed off as Peacehaven went in 5 - 0 up at the break.
The interval didn't provide much respite. In the second half, a wonder strike from defender Adam Kneller on 55 minutes made it 6, Carl Dunk notched a penalty after a Chris Rea foul in the box on 68 and Ashley Jones made it 8.
Chris Gould got Sidley on the scoresheet at least with a goal on 88 minutes but just a minute later Peacehaven rounded off the scoring with Jones again finding the roof of the net to make it 9 - 1 at the final whistle.
Obviously not a good night for our boys, hopefully we will get a response at Hassocks on Saturday when we start our FA Cup campaign.
Sidley Team: Dann, Rea, Miltiadou, Cruikshank, McEnery (Cooper), Agutter, Trickett (Hesmer), Darby, Taylor, Miles, Clarke (Gould).
