Sidley downed by Crows
(September 18, 2012)
Sidley United 1 - 3 Crowborough Athletic - Tuesday 18 September - Division One
Sidley United were unable to make it back to back wins at Gullivers after letting a lead slip against determined opposition.
Crowborough probably shaded the early exchanges but it was Sidley who got their noses in front when a smart turn from Matt Darby allowed him space to curl his shot into the bottom corner on 24 minutes.
Crowborough equalised with a slightly fortuitous goal as a shot cannoned off of Sidley legs and landed at the feet of a Crowborough striker, who slotted past Pelling.
They took the lead shortly after the interval after a corner from a header was parried, Chris Ransome was on hand to knock in the rebound. They sealed the game on 78 minutes as Sam Carrington converted a cross from the right after a break.
Sidley didn't play badly but Crowborough chased and hassled all night and didn't allow the home side time to play and ultimately were worthy of the points.
Sidley Team: Pelling, Willett, Mitiadou, McEnery, Cruikshank, Agutter (Bird), Darby, Taylor, McMinigal (Hales), Pogue, Clarke (Payne)
