Sidley go down to last gasp goal
(February 09, 2013)
Horsham YMCA 2 - 1 Sidley United - Division One
A 94th minute winner condemned Sidley to a second defeat in a week after Andy Hales looked to have salvaged a draw.
In a cagey first half, Sidley at least showed much improvement from the 3 - 1 defeat at home to Ringmer. Sidley played well in the opening 25 minutes but fell behind when Martin Smith finished well for the hosts.
In the second half Sidley conceded a harsh looking penalty but for the second game in a row Nessling saved well to keep it out. And Sidley looked to have nicked a draw when Andy Hales scored in the 89th minute as a corner was cleared to Hales and he rifled it into the net.
But Horsham stole the win at the death when a corner saw Nessling collide with Rose and the ball broke to Kevin Burgess on the edge of the area and his shot deflected into the net.
Sidley Team: Nessling, Willett, Hales, Cooper, Cruikshank, Agutter, Trickett (Shelton), Martin, Darby, Taylor (Boyd), Pugh (Rose).
