Weekend round up
(January 25, 2015)
With Sidley United's game away at Hollington United II called off due to a waterlogged pitch, two other Division One fixtures did manage to survive.
Bexhill AAC suffered their first defeat of the season as visitors Mountfield United grabbed a 1 - 0 victory which opens up the title race. Mountfield are 9 points clear of Bexhill AAC who are third but Bexhill have 3 games in hand. Sandwiched between them are Hawkhurst United who must be considered the outsiders in what is increasingly looking a 3 way battle to finish top of the pile.
In the other game played on Saturday. Icklesham Casuals moved off the bottom of the table after a 2 - 2 draw at Wadhurst United, the side directly above Sidley. Wadhurst twice had the lead but Icklesham pegged them back with the second equaliser coming just 2 minutes before time.
Sidley will hope that the weather this week is kind enough to allow the pitch to be deemed playable on Saturday when bottom side Sandhurst are the visitors. With Wadhurst not in action, Sidley can move up at least one place in the table with 3 points but Sandhurst will look to try and get themselves off the bottom with a result.
