Sovereign Saints Withdrawal Affects League
(November 05, 2015)
It has today been announced to us that Sovereign Saints have withdrawn from Division One with immediate effect. This comes just weeks after Hollington United II also pulled out, leaving the Division with just 8 teams.
The Management Committee, knowing that supplementary competitions at the end of the season are not liked by most Clubs have decided that all remaining teams in the Division will now play each other THREE times this season, meaning Blues will play 21 games in Division One this season.
The additional games will be split as evenly as possible amongst the teams with some playing 4 home games and 3 away, others 3 home and 4 away and this will be set by the league's Fixtures Secretary. It has also been revealed that no team will be automatically relegated at the end of the season as a result of the withdrawals of the two sides.
Whilst this is not ideal, it does at least ensure that Sidley's season will not finish too early, as Blues now have 15 league fixtures remaining as well as still being in 2 cup competitions.
