Ticehurst Match Preview
(January 20, 2016)
Sidley United take on fellow Division One side Ticehurst on Saturday in the Sussex FA Junior Cup.
The game is due to take place at Bell Field although if their pitch is not fit then a swap to play at Hooe is a possibility.
Ticehurst have not played since before Christmas, where in their last outing they went down 6 - 1 to Old Hastonians with only a bare 11 players available on the day.
Both league matches against Tiecehurst have not been straight forward affairs. The opening day game ended in a 1 - 1 draw but the points were later awarded to Sidley as home goalkeeper Ryan Hunt, who denied the Blues that day with a string of top saved, was ineligible to play in the match.
The return fixture was awarded as a walkover win to Sidley as Ticehurst were not able to raise a team on that occasion.
However Ticehurst's last 2 wins came in the Sussex FA Junior Cup as they saw off Worthing Borough 6 - 3 having already dispatched Worthing Leisure.
As for the Blues, last weekend's narrow 1 - 0 win over The J.C. Tackleway was a first game in over a month and made it 10 wins from 10 league games. The cup represents a different prospect of silverware and having been knocked out of the Birchwood Challenge Cup early in the season, the Blues will be determined to go as far as possible in the other cup compeitions.
Sidley are currently without a match following this game until the scheduled visit to Eastbourne Rangers on February 13th and so can really throw everything at Saturday's game with time to recover on the horizon.
Kick off is 1.30pm and updates will be given on social media as soon as more is known about whether the game will be played at Bell Field or switched to Hooe.
