Change at top without a ball being kicked!
(February 20, 2016)
Sidley United were knocked off top spot for the first time in months today, without a ball being kicked.
Firstly our game against The J.C. Tackleway was called off due to Bexhill Road being deemed unfit for play and this presented Eastbourne Rangers with the chance to go top on goal difference if they could overcome Ticehurst.
However in the end they didn't have to as Ticehurst were unable to raise a side, the team clearly struggling at the moment with this being the 2nd time this season they have been unable to fulfil a fixture and this meant Rangers were awarded the points and leapt above Sidley on goal difference as a result.
Blues shouldn't be too disheartened though as we still have a game in hand on Rangers and there is plenty of football to be played between now and the end of the season.
One game that was played today saw next weeks opponents Crowhurst lose further ground on the top 3 as they drew 2 - 2 at Wadhurst United. Whilst they still have 4 games in hand on us, they are 19 points behind in the table. Sidley face Crows in the Quarter Finals of the Hastings FA Cup next Saturday at Hooe Rec.
