Crowhurst Match Preview

(March 16, 2016)

Sidley United travel to Crowhurst this weekend looking to keep up the pressure on leaders Eastbourne Rangers.

Blues come into the game just a point behind Rangers but with 2 games in hand after last week's 6 - 1 victory at Ticehurst. Rangers were denied in the last seconds as Old Hastonians scored a late equaliser to draw 1 - 1 in a result that certainly was to Sidley's advantage.

Crowhurst were edged out by Wadhurst United by a 2 - 1 scoreline in the semi final of the Sussex FA Junior Cup last weekend and so no doubt will want to make amends this week.

The two sides have met twice this season already with contrasting outcomes. Blues won the early season league encounter at Hooe 3 - 1 but recently lost to the Crows by the same score after extra time in the Hastings FA Junior Cup in a game Blues should really have seen off in the 90 minutes.

Crowhurst have had excellent runs in the cups but have not been able to replicate that form in the league so far with 1 win from 6 games played. They have a number of games in hand however and will feel if they can start putting a run of wins together that they can still be in the mix come the end of the season.

Their top scorer is Steven McGowan and this week they boosted their squad with 2 new signings. It will not be an easy match so Sidley will have to be resolute and clinical if they are to come away with the points.

Kick off at Crowhurst rec is 3.00pm. We encourage as many supporters as possible to come along and support the boys as they look to continue their run of good form.
