Wadhurst United Match Preview
(April 21, 2016)
Sidley United travel to Wadhurst United this Saturday in search of 3 points that would put them on the brink of lifting the Division One title.
The two sides met most recently in an epic Sussex FA Junior cup final which the Blues won 6 - 4 after extra time. Wadhurst took the lead three times in that game and so Sidley had to show real determination and character to come back to lift the trophy. Both league encounters this season have also gone in Sidley's favour by 2 - 1 scorelines.
Sidley went joint top of the table last weekend by winning the top of the table clash against Eastbourne Rangers 1 - 0. In a tight encounter, the Blues defended well and made one of their chances count to put them within sight of the title. If Sidley can take 4 points from the final 3 league games, they will be crowned champions to cap a fabulous season.
Wadhurst United suffered a 7 - 1 reverse against Old Hastonians last weekend but responded with an impressive 2 - 1 win at Crowhurst last night. Whilst they may not have much to play for on paper, Sidley have had tough encounters against them this season and so will have to ensure they are focussed and at their best in order to come away with the points.
On the positive side, Blues have scored in every game this season and will hope to continue that run on Saturday. Blues expect to be at full strength.
Sidley's final 2 matches are home encounters; against Crowhurst on Monday 2nd May and Old Hastonians on Saturday 7th Msy. Both matches are 3.00pm kick offs.
